Teachers at Simpson meet consistently to plan interdisciplinary and problem/project-based lessons. Teachers meet in Cobb Collaborative Communities on Tuesdays during planning times. CCCs are made up of all teachers in the grade level who teach the same subject. CCCs meet in the STEAM room at least twice a month in order to collaborate across disciplines. Teachers also meet as grade levels weekly on Thursdays. Grade level meetings include the usual messages from administration and housekeeping, but a portion of each meeting is devoted to time for the full grade level to plan for interdisciplinary STEAM projects. Additionally, subject area teams meet vertically once a month to ensure that students do not complete the same activity in multiple years as well as to ensure that students learn skills they need to progress through their time at Simpson.
