All grade level students have an opportunity to compete in Science Olympiad. In 2017 Simpson placed 4th in our region, which qualified us to advance to the state competition. At state, Simpson medaled in 5 events, including a couple of 1st place medals.

Female students at Simpson are afforded another opportunity to become involved in the STEAM fields through the Girls Who Code Club. Meeting after school, Girls Who Code offers opportunities for girls to learn the basics of coding in several different languages and use their newfound skills to complete projects that benefit the school and the community.
Based on shared interest between students and Mr. Whiting, a sixth grade science teacher, the Star Wars club was formed during the 2016-17 school year. The club meets weekly to discuss the Star Wars franchise, watch clips and movies, discuss cosplay, and explore the scientific and technological basis for the characters, tools, weapons, and environs of the Star Wars universe. Simpson Math TeamStudents on the Simpson Math team participate in mathematics competitions at the county level. The team is open to students in all three grade levels. The 2018-2019 school will be the third year of participation. The math team competes in 3 county wide math competitions during the course of the year. At the end of the year, there are 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes for both the individuals with the highest scores and the teams with the highest score.
