1.1 Students are engaged in interdisciplinary problem and/or inquiry-based STEM activities that focus on STEAM practices (creativity, communication, perseverance, problem-solving, collaboration, critical thinking skills, research skills, career focus).

6th grade STEM students researched and practiced being Civil Engineers by building bridges. The lesson incorporates collaboratively following the Engineering Design Process through research, design, building, testing, modifying, and reflection. In addition, students were required to maintain a materials budge.
